About Me
The collections of clothing and apparel MEM COUTURE are designed by two designers - ERIC MAJ POTOCNIK & MATJAZ PLOSINJAK. It all began a few years ago caused by the passion of creating together, but we started our professional way in 2004 when the first collection was presented in Ljubljana. The debut brought about an instant breakout into the niche of Slovenian fashion. So far the label has mostly been presented in Italy, Spain, BiH, Croatia & Slovenia. MEM couture always tries to create both - prêt-à-porter and haute couture pieces as well. What we find as very important are stories caught in garments, shoes and other accessories. A strong concept is always the base. Almost needless to say that we love to play with (re-creating) human proportions, symbiosis of contrast textiles and patterns. Sometimes surrealistic. Sometimes near to classic as well. Spiced with a touch of Paris. Chic. For the last year and a half we put a lot of effort in a triptych kind of project named “Hommage à Marlene”, dedicated to the legendary Marlene Dietrich. The collection was first presented at the fashion week of Bosnia and Herzegovina, after that an artistic presentation was performed at the “Museum fashion day” organized by the International contemporary art museum Casoria-Napoli in Italian Naples. In Ljubljana the supplemented collection was presented for the third and the last time in autumn 2007. MEM couture was also presented at Bread&Butter Barcelona in January 2008. Our future wish is to take an apparent position in European fashion and open a store in one of the fashion metropolis. Things I like
We enjoy the working chaos! Design and styling work overall... Photo shootings of course. Tea, coffee, tasty cakes, late dinners too. Honest and non-selfish people (these can be difficult to find). Aesthetic objects. Sighthounds and their calm surrealistic energy. Exploring new cities and their charm.

Things I dislike
... will not be listed here, as it would be a true waste of time to even bother with them.

What I wear
Mostly MEM couture, of course! Furthermore there are quite some vintage pieces in our closet. Plus you may notice some Dior, Burberry, Lacoste, Richmond and even H&M & Zara, etc. When speaking about our personal style brand names are not the priority issue for us - it is the design that is.

People I admire
... are people with a very unique energy. We call them "our icons". Some of them are friends of ours, some are people we know. Doubtless there are also people we have not met yet, but we admire them a lot. Icons from the past & icons from the present.

Brands I’m into
Fashion brands we admire the most: Christian Dior, Balenciaga, John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, Viktor&Rolf, Jean Paul Gaultier, Vivienne Westwood, Christian Lacroix, Philip Treacy... Plus Lara Bohinc, Prada, LV and YSL. And some more!

Music I listen to
Very various. Very.

Art I like
From Pablo Picasso, Gustav Klimt, Salvador Dali ... to Tamara de Lempicka, Erté & Andy Warhol. But in our opinion art is something so powerful and great, that it can not be categorized. In every single masterpiece there are details we love and admire.

Most happy when
... when there is an option to be as creative as possible. For us the working chaos is something that can not be described! But on the other side we truly enjoy obligations - free moments with our two 4-legged friends: Viktor the Greyhound & Iuno the Dalmatian. :)
