American actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt has come a long way since his days as a child actor in such films as Robert Redford's A River Runs Through It and Disney's Angels in the Outfield. His breakout role came in 1996, when he was cast in the five-season long TV comedy 3rd Rock from the Sun. The role landed him in Teen People magazine's 21 Hottest Stars Under 21 in 1991. In 2009, he returned to critical acclaim with 500 Days of Summer, which won him a Golden Globe nomination.
